epicTLR Posted June 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2011 My family has booked a group tour to visit the National Museum of American Illustration during our upcoming Canada/New England cruise, on Thursday, June 30th. On weekdays the museum is usually open only for advance group reservations. If you happen to visit Newport on June 30th, you are welcome to join our tour at 12 PM. NMAI is pretty close to the Breakers. 9 minutes by walking or 7 minutes by bus according to Google maps. NMAI is the #1 (out of 62) attraction in Newport according to Tripadvisor. Here’s a sample review by drdonphiladelphia_pa: “THE BEST OF THE BEST: Newport, Rhode Island gets my vote for the most beautiful and unusual city in America and one attraction stands out far above the rest. The National Museum of American Illustration is the crown jewel among the fabled Newport mansions and while the other homes depict America's past, Vernon Court (NMAI) is our countries past, present and future. With its spectacular palace housing a collection of magnificent American illustration, parents and children are treated to the art of American icons such as Norman Rockwell, N. C. Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish, Howard Pyle and Jessie Wilcox Smith with pictures they will understand and remember and maybe even try to emulate. This museum is an experience and an education. It is absolutely the best of the best!” More info: http://www.americanillustration.org/ http://www.youtube.com/thenmai http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractio...de_Island.html
