Shopping in Taormina - quick question!

I have seen numerous postings stating that most of the stores in Taormina close daily between about 1:00 and 4:00 PM.

 

I am in the process of booking a private tour from Messina to Mt. Etna and Taormina in late July. Two reputable guides have told me that in high season such as July, all the stores will be open in the afternoon. I would certainly like to believe them, as we'll be getting there around 2:00.

Any comments??

We were there all afternoon , and I don't remember anything being closed.

 

 

 

Btw.. Taormina is incredible, you'll love it

I would think they would be correct; in Sicily they are starting to get into all day shopping. Our relatives sent us on a long drive to see this so-called wonderful new shopping centre which is open all day. Inevitably we found it a clone of the shopping malls that we go to here in Australia, with even a lot of the same stores!:(

Taormina has much more interesting local shops but the it is the view and atmosphere which makes it worth the visit.

We were there last June, and I don't recall any shops being closed.

Last month, a lot of Messina seemed to shutdown, but that was not the case in Taormina.

Hey Sarge, We were on the same cruise and I don't remember any shops being closed. That I would remember. Don't miss the Greek Theater.
