Formal Night for Children

What is the dress code for an 8-year old boy on formal night? We will be sailing on Holland America in Alaska for the cruise in question.

I just want to say, I love to see small children on formal nights, boys in suits, girls in long dresses, some can't wait to get out of those clothes :D some are so proud of themselves to be dressed as adults, they are so cute!

My DS is 10 and he wore the same suit for each formal night, but we had different shirts/ties for each night.

My sister dressed my nephew when he was 2 years old in khaki pants, a button down white shirt, a clip on tie and a little blue blazer. He was the hit of the ship.

 

I think for an 8 year old boy, if he doesn't already have a suit, black slacks and a button down shirt should be fine. A tie would be a nice touch.
