I feel bad you paid so much for Atlantis and didn't get to enjoy the waterpark since that is what you paid for really.

Atlantis is FREE after the Waterpark closes so when I was there it was 5:00pm. You can walk around- go to the beach- look at all the fish in The Dig. The waterpark is closed so you can't do any of that but all the sights you saw are open and you can walk all around it. It was a $4 taxi ride per person to get there from where the ship docks.

When I was at Atlantis at the end of October it was not crowded at all. There were some crowded areas but we had no problem finding a chair and locker. The waterpark rides are SOOO fun- especially the water roller coaster thing they have. It actually shoots you UP and down hills on a raft. So fun!
Not for the price that they charge... I was really disappointed... Now if I was going on an off season time yes I would go... But this is there busiest time.. There were also 3 cruise ships in port? How many will be in port when your there?
It was just really busy!
sorry to give you that information..
Carolyn
No, no, thanks for being so honest. I don't know how many ships will be in port that day, but I suspect it would be similar. I think we will look for something else to do that day................. THanks again.

Great review... We did the eastern itn in 2003, due to a tropical storm. At that time, they did not offer the Atlantis excursion. We took a speed boat with 20 people to Black Beard's Cay, and swam with the sting rays, we had booked that to do in Grand Caymen. After an hour or so a triple decker slow boat with 300 people arrived. My daughter and I headed to the beach to find chairs before the boat people unloaded and claimed them all. We had a wonderful time, bought a huge conch shell right off a boat on the dock. I still smile everytime I look at that shell. Then we paid $5 per person for a water taxi to get to Atlantis. We had been told that we could buy an arm band for $20 and enjoy the water park for the day. Well needless to say, we found out different. At that time, you had to be staying at Atlantis to enjoy the water park. But you were more than welcome to spend all the time you wanted in the casino. No thanks we had our 11 and 7 year old children with us. If I paid that much money to go to Atlantis on vacation, I would be very mad about 7,000 cruise passengers showing up and making things so crowded. I think they should limit the number of people they allow to purchase that excursion. As far as arriving through the front doors, I think only people staying at Atlantis are allowed that privledge. I remember walking in through the shops and casino just like ya'll did. Can't wait to read the rest of your review.

My family and I have vacationed at Atlantis - TWICE. Both of them for 1 week. The first time we stayed at the Comfort Suites, which is next door to Atlantis, in order to save a few bucks. We still enjoyed all of the amenities that Atlantis has to offer.

The second time we went, we splurged and stayed in the Coral Towers. This second time, the addition to the water park had been completed, which included the Power Tower and The Current. Besides our two cruises, Atlantis has been our favorite vacation, as evidenced by us spending a week there on 2 seperate occasions. The Current is, by far, my favorite part of the water activities at Atlantis. Part lazy river, part whitewater rapids, part water slide.

All that said, I really did not see a big noticeable difference in attendance when the cruise ships arrived. Yes, there are busy parts of the resort, but not intolerable. The lines for the slides were still shorter than the lines for a Six Flags or Disney theme parks. During those times, you just spend a little more time floating down the lazy river!

It is unfortunate that the ships don't spend more time in Nassau, because the time doesn't allow for people to spend the time necessary to go on my all-time favorite excursion, which is Powerboat Adventures. You are taken about an hour away from Nassau, first to an island where you feed iguanas grapes off the end of a twig. The second stop is to a private, uninhabited island where the tour operator has built a shed, of sorts. There we were able to snorkel, swim, interract with Stingrays (a la Stingray City in Grand Cayman) and watch sharks being fed a mere 10 feet away from us. Yes, sharks from the open ocean just 10 feet away. After that, we had the luxury of an open grill and open bar for the remainder of our day on a powdery-white sand beach similar to the beaches of Destin, Florida. If anyone ever gets a chance to take this tour, I would highly recommend it. It's pricey (about $200 per person), but well worth it. The entire tour lasts from about 9AM until about 5PM.

I've read through page 10 (awsome review by the way) and I didn't see anyone putting the recipe for warm chocolate melting cake. Here you go.

The recipe for the chocolate melting cake is as follows:

8 ounces of semisweet chocolate

1 cup (2 sticks) of butter

7 eggs, divided use

6 tablespoons of sugar

1/2 cup of flour
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Melt the chocolate and butter and cool for 10 minutes. In a separate bowl, mix four eggs with sugar. Whisk. Then add flour and whisk. Add the remaining three eggs and add the egg mixture to the chocolate mixture. Pour this entire mixture into individual ramekins. Bake until just done, about 15-20 minutes (interior will be melting). Serve with vanilla ice cream.
If this seems like hard work to you, then there is also a suitable alternative: book a Carnival cruise and enjoy as many of these beauties as you can during your cruise. Contact your local travel agent for more information.
Enjoy this wonderful dessert and stay tuned for more of the cruise experience in future articles. Until then, Bon Voyage (and Bon Appetit)!

I have made this and it is sooo yummy. Not as good as having it on the ship, but pretty darn close and so easy.
My Daughter is 9. When she was in kindergarden I took her out of school for 2 weeks. A week long trip to Disney and then a weeklong trip on a cruise. The teachers tried to give me a hard time about it. I had to withdrawal her. Needless to say she has more memories of our trips than what she has learned in school. I through in some learning in with the fun parts. I just wish I could home school her but I want her to have the social interaction.

I have so enjoyed your review with your adorable daughter. My mom and I started cruising in 1986 just after I had gotten out of graduate school. We had so many happy memories and traveled to Hawaii twice, both times on a cruise, as well as to the Caribbean. These are my best memories of my dear sweet mom. Rae will cherish these trips even more as she gets older, as I still do to this day. Keep cruising and being best buddies!!! Great review and pictures. Give Atlantis another shot when it is not so crowded. Their lazy river is not so lazy and is awesome! I'm so sorry you didn't get to fully enjoy the slides, but it is just another excuse to go again. The Imagination stays overnight and is the perfect ship to do Atlantis!!!

I have debated on posting this or not, because it gives you a little information about my heart... :( But everyone has been so nice that I thought I would share it... It's nothing bad... but it's just the reason for these trips that I do with my daughter.

I don't have a really great relationship with my mother. I have 2 brothers, 1 older by 5 years and 1 younger by 12 years... That she just adores... and I'm just her daughter... Both of my brothers really need her all the time. My older brother took over the family business and the business was something that my parents started so she's very proud of the way that my brother has done things... My little brother and his wife live with my mother and take care of her and she relies on them for everything and they on her... Plus my little brother is her baby...

My father has been gone for 7 years and I was his princess... and since he's been gone my mother just stays depressed all the time..... It's really hard for me to understand how she can be so depressed because for me it seems like a choice... You can choose to make it a good day or not and as you know I'm a very positive person, my cup is running over... ;) :D and everyday it's a great day for me...

Now as you know in all stories there is lots more to this story then the little information that I've given you but the point is to know that I don't have a relationship with my mother...

So, for me it is very important that I continue to build a relationship with Rae where ever or how ever I can... Now I'm still the parent and she knows that... But we are also best of friends... She does see how my mother treats me and she doesn't understand how someone can be so hateful to me...

Now this is a really huge hole in my heart but the most awesome thing about it is that I can change the pattern and have the most awesome relationship with Rae which is what I continue to do...

Plus I have the best relationship with both of my boys... I am so blessed.... It's just reallly important to me that I continue to work on all of my relationships and make them the most important thing in my life....

Now enough of this...
More to come...
