Everything ALLURE

Recommended Posts

I just found this thread - thanks to all for the wonderful tips! I've been compiling my own info, and now have much more to add to my folder. Sixteen more days and I'll be on the wonderful Allure (and have all kinds of "insider tips"!) :)
Have sailed Oasis three times and soon to be four on Allure! You will be amazed! The ship and the crew are fabulous....K.O. Near Philly:)

These Compasses are from January 2011, so they're over a year old now. Is it safe to assume they're still generally accurate? I'm about a hundred days out and want to plan my show reservations around the Quest, etc. If there's a more recent Allure western itinerary Compass floating around, could someone point me to it?

Thanks!

Edit: Never mind, I downloaded these and started looking through them, and it turns out they're for an Eastern itinerary, not Western. Anyone know where I can get Western? Thanks again.

Did Allure roll out the new menus? and if so, does anyone have any copies of them for the Eastern Route. Trying to figure what day to do specialty restaurant. Thanks.

Just got off an hour ago, our waiter said the new menus start in Sept. I think he said the 15th! :)

We will be sailing the Allure for the first time this spring, so the following are not tips of my own experience. These are tips I have written down from others reviews, threads or tiplists, of which I have many, but will only list the ones I don't recall seeing as of yet.

* There is a cavier bar in the Champagne bar during happy hour, which is not listed in the cruise compass and complimentary with a drink purchase. They also do canapes early evenings and chocolate covered strawberries late evenings with drink orders

* Deck 5 jogging track on the aft of the ship. Great place to lounge in a quieter setting and enjoy the wake.

* Central Park in the evenings. Piped in cricket sounds, twinkle lights, stringed instruments a couple of hours most evenings, a romantic place to stroll or sit.

* You can email RCCL ahead of your departure and request an eggcrate mattress topper for your bed.

* It is reported that ??some/most/all?? of the balcony doors must be closed and locked in order for the air conditioner to work.

* Quest: An adult scavenger hunt. Funny to participate in or just watch. Held in studio B (the ice rink) on Wednesday nights @ 11:45 pm

* Love & Marriage Game Show: Reminiscent of the newleywed game show. Watch your fellow passengers participate on stage in this game show. Held Tuesday nights (10 or 10:30?)

* Prohibition Party: A step back in time to a Speak Easy. Limited to 50 people. Held Thursday nights in Jazz on 4(10 or 10:30?). Must make reservations. People dress up in '20s period garb (think flapper dresses and gangster suits). Gin drinks and a limited bar are included in the $35 Fee.

* Rita's Fiesta: Held 3 nights of the week. Lively, festive atmosphere (think limbos and line dancing). $30 gets you a pre-fixed meal, 3 margaritas (or other drink of choice) OR $20 gets you the non-alcoholic version.

Someone posted the new menus on another thread. It seems each day has a different herb name, ie. Saffron, Basil and so on. I was wondering if whoever is sailing after 9/15, when the new menus are to make their debut on Allure, could please post which days are which herb name. I will be sailing in Nov. and would like to figure out which day(s) to book my specialty dining. Any help is appreciated. :)

I am sailing the Allure on Sept 16th. I will post a Thread when I return about the menu. I viewed the menu from a previous poster and am interested in trying the new soups. I may partake in a dining package and wonder if I could enjoy the soups I would miss in the MDR at another venue.. ANYONE KNOW? I am a soup and salad addict:p and I would avoid booking a dining package just to eat soup in the MDR.. crazy right.

I must be fair to my DH so I am asking in advance.

Thank you. When I viewed the new menu it had Tuesday listed as Jasmine menu but according to other posts this is Italian night on the Eastern itin. and so I thought it should be the Pimiento menu, which is a night I would not want to miss.

I love this thread! However for the second formal night I read that it's Friday night. On another thread I read that its Thursday night (could be an old thread?) Usually the second formal night is the lobster night, or Fisherman's plate...right? With the new menu the Fisherman's plate is on Thursday night. So now I'm confused. Is the second formal night Friday with the surf and turf? icon5.gif
