Harbie Posted August 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2011 We are headed out on the Victory in January 2012 and I would love to see more photos from fellow cruisers. And also any tips for things to see and do. We are the adventurous type and have an ATV tour and snorkeling with Turtles already booked but looking for other things or suggestions. Thanks to everyone in advance :) We have only been on one other Cruise and that was the Carnival Splendor-surely the Victory will be just as nice:confused:

agc291 Posted August 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2011 First off, you will have an AMAZING cruise. We were sort of spoiled by this being our first cruise because of the great itinerary! San Juans port was a breeze! We flew in the morning of and caught a taxi to Senor Frogs ( on the same strip as the CVS) which is right across the street from the pier. Taxis there have mandatory prices set depending on where you are going, I believe the airport to the pier was $19 plus tip. I wish we could've seen a little more of San Juan, so if you have time I recommend it because its beautiful. In St. Thomas we did the Carnival Discover Scuba excursion which was great. They take you to Coki Beach Dive Club, so if you want to save some $ you can just take a taxi there and sign up. After this we had lunch on board then got back off for some shopping:) The little shopping area in port is very cute and clean. In Barbados we take a taxi $4pp to the Harbour Lights Beach where they had a bar and grill type area, drinks seems a little pricey for not so much liquor but it was a good time. The beach wasnt crowded but you will see a lot of Carnival towels. There werent too many vendors either, and all we encountered seem polite. We walked back to the port from the beach, which took about 25 minutes. It was nice to walk and see the area, but not worth it when you could pay $4pp to get back. As a warning Barbados is 13* from the Equator and it is HOTTTTTTT. This port shopping area seemed to be a lot of tiny stores, they were petty crowded when we got back to port. St. Lucia- we took a cab for $7 pp to Rodney Bay , we wanted to go to see the Pitons but we slept in late and the taxi people claimed it was too far in such a short time...im not sure how true that was. The beach we went to was nice, sand was the hottest we encountered( it was pretty hot). They had chairs and umbrellas, food & drink, and water toys available here. No one really bothered you to buy anything here. The port here was similar to St. Thomas, very large and inviting. There were places to eat and drink here as well. There was a nice grill across from some bathrooms on the side with Piranha Joes that had some good deals, $1 Piton beer, etc. In St. Kitts we met Troy Lewis in the port who showed us an awesome island tour his company was offering, it was $20 pp. They went to Romney Manor Botanical Gardens whoch is home to Caribelle Batik, we went through town and were shown historical areas, saw monkeys and the fort ( we couldnt stop there) and we also stopped at the beach for a short time before getting back on board. We enjoyed the tour very much and we got our moneys worth. The port here is very large so all of the stores were pretty spaced out, I didnt have time to really look around but there were alot of people here offering pictures with monkeys for a couple bucks. In St. Maarten we took the water taxi to the end of the board walk ( you can also follow the boardwalk). The water taxi was $6pp for as many times as you want to ride back and forth. There is a hard rock on the boardwalk, and an additional shopping area on the street behind the boardwalk. The area was nice but was the worst as far as people offering things. They would be standing 2 feet from the person who just offered you the same thing, and ask anyways. After shopping and getting some drinks at a beach bar we rented 2 beach loungers, an umbrella and 4 alcoholic drinks for $15 total. Overall we had a great time, the staff was extremely friendly, we never encountered long lines for food ( which was delicious) and we found everything to be reasonably priced.
