Good afternoon SMDers.

Someone emailed me asking about the cocktail party. The cocktail party will be on board for one, one and a half or two hours and will be all you can drink in that time frame. This is not the same party as the Pub crawl. The cocktail will be in one area and the Pub Crawl will go from one place to another. I am going to wait for a few more months before we start the list as Johna will not have info on the price for the party this far out.

Janet - thanks for the offer, but I will have to pass this one on the younger guys, maybe Jerod and Steven? (but please don't tell Em or Julie!).

OK, got some running to do and then the

Spurs game tonight. Have a good one.

I just don't think we can handle anymore rejection, so quit passing us around! LOL We always do fine all by ourselves :p, we haven't been arrested yet!

Happy Friday everyone! We are gearing up for a late winter blizzard here...sigh. I want to be back on the Glory! Hard to believe one week ago right now we were in Grand Turk having a margarita.

Thank you for the responses regarding appropriateness of the excursions for my son. I think we probably will skip the catamaran/Margaritaville one, but I'm excited to hear that the others will work for all three of us! Colton will be so excited when we tell him that he gets to go next time!

So I talked to Dan and we are going to book. I have a question about that though. On the Glory last week we bought a future cruise credit. Can we use that to book the CC group cruise? Or will we need to book through our PVP/Carnival and lose out on the CC Group perks/OBC? If we have to book direct through Carnival to use the future cruise certificate that's fine, but it would sure be nice to be an official part of the CC Group cruise, even if we don't get the perks. I'm not sure if that made sense.

Man, I am so excited about this! The only thing we are waiting on is for Dan to figure out exactly when he is moving here to live with me and Colton. Our relationship is long-distance right now, but he is planning to move here either in the fall or right after the first of the year. Long distance love is HARD, but we've been together for over a year, and when something is right, you do what you have to to make it work, and this is very right...always was, we just didn't know it back then.

We are planning on a balcony stateroom. We had a suite on the Glory last week, and it was fantastic, but with taking Colton along, it will be much more expensive and we decided that we'd save a little by just doing the balcony instead. We thought about a cove balcony, but I want to be up a little higher on the ship. I need to go see if I can find pictures/video of the Dream and Magic.

Missy, you shouldn't have any trouble using the future cruise certificate with the cruise critic group rate. I was able to use one on the Glory last week. :)

Missy - Madelene is correct. You can use the FCC on the group cruises. I'm using one on this one and using another on the Alaska cruise in June, which is also a CC group cruise. Just call or email Johna and book with her and let her know about the FCC.

That's just fine...we are used to being pawned off on someone else. Not everyone can handle the two of us :p!

Jerod and Steven are each married. You and West are not. But if you don't think you can do it, I guess they will have to find their own massage specialists!:p

I just don't think we can handle anymore rejection, so quit passing us around! LOL We always do fine all by ourselves :p, we haven't been arrested yet!

YET!!!!! remember to bring bail money, Jerod and Emily are going on this cruise too!

Thats awesome!!! Let us know when you have officially booked with Johna to be part of the group! Welcome! As the others have told you, you can use the FCC on this group cruise. Just besure to book through Johna. And you will have 200$ OBC, instead of 100$ !!

Colton is going to have so much fun at the waterworks on the ship!!

Hi all and welcome to those who will soon be a part of the family:p

Rich, we had the 1 hour cocktail party and it went very well, the booze was flowing like crazy.

not like the fair well party or past guest where they can be overwhelmed with how many people show up and may or may not get to you three times.

I think I had 2 drinks, but I was busy making sure everyone was having fun.

not that I would recommend this, as I didn't know it was going on, but there were drinks leaving the room and down to their cabin for later...

Crazy I know, missed out on some party, but had drinks for the night

With that said, even at the end of the hour, the waiters left two or three drinks with those who asked.

Don't know if this will be true on the Magic, but on the Liberty, it was a perfect set up for us. they had some nuts and chips thing for snacks at all the tables too.

and they have them before the early dining, 3:00-5:00 so to much drinking makes for not enjoying my meal

Also, Johna can't set it up much before 40 days out from sail away.

But you can collect the money when ever you want and send it in.

Collect for at least 20 people. any extras will be put on your SS Card.

so if you use your CC to pay your SS card, and you get miles or $$ for every $ charged, well you see where I am going with this.

We had one extra person, I told are girl (they give you a person that sets up the events, and meets up with you to make sure you are happy)

anyway she never charged me for the extra, even though I reminded her...Sweet.

Also, it is nice that the tip is added into what we pay up front... so any extra is just because we want to. don't know if everyone did at ours or not, but as I said the drinks were flowing!

Good (early) morning SMDers.

Marie - thanks for all the info. I know that when I talked with Johna, she informed me about the 40 day thing and that is why I'm waiting do get the list started. I guess we can start once the Mateys get back from thier cruise. I know that on the veterans cruise, we had plenty to drink in that hour and again you don't have to drink what they bring out on the trays. If you want something (say a bloody mary) then all you have to do is ask. They will bring it out to you.

OK got to get some work done. Back later.

Speaking from (very recent) experience, if it's a 'paid' cocktail party (not an amenity included in the group rate) you need to demand that they give you a confirmed time/location for the party (have a few preferred time/date in mind). We had an issue with our 'free' party, which was one of our group amenities, because CCL refused to tell us in advance when it would be. I gave Johna some preferred times/dates and she told me they refused to give us the scheduling info in advance because it could change. She promised me that CCL wouldn't schedule it to confilict with anything else (blogger's events) but when we got on board the invite was in our cabins and it directly conflicted with the blogger's farewell party. I went after the groups coordinator on board and we were able to re-schedule it to a time/date I wanted, and it worked out fine. I had to personally re-deliver the new invitations though. It was just a hassle that shouldn't have happened. The fact that the party you want to plan will be paid for by you/us should give you more leverage in the scheduling process.

Thanks Madalene for the adivse. I will keep that in mind when we start this thing up.

You're welcome! :) We paid for a 2 hr cocktail party on the Freedom 2 years ago and had no trouble with the scheduling, so hopefully you won't either. :)

Hi Janet, yes we had a few non drinkers at the party, and they still paid the full fair.

Children on the other hand were like $5.75 and could have soda pop.

They didn't make frozen drinks for the cocktail party,

or Payton might have had a virgin one of those.

I remember asking if he could get one, but not available, either way :(

Those who were not Drinking, could have soda or fruit punch...Not sure what else.

Maybe ordered extra for their mate ;)

OK. Are the SMDer's having a cocktail party???

Yes we are, but are waiting for you and your Mateys to get back before we start a list.

I think it was about $12 for the hour party. (gratuity is in that price)

Good morning SMDers. Alittle tough getting up this morning since we push the clocks up an hour. I really don't like having to come to work in the dark. Too early.

Janet - of course we are going to have a cocktail party. Just don't know just how long this one will last. Seems like the one hour parties are over before they really get started. So, I don't know if we should go for the full two hours, but the 1 1/2 might not be too bad. Anyway we will figure that out once the Mateys get back.

I'm doing the double digit dance for my Alaska cruise. We sail in 99 days and I am so looking forward to cruising to Alaska:D. Just can't wait.

Marie - so y'all had drinks to go? Didn't know you could do that! I wonder if they will make us Chocolate Martini's?

Ok, back to work.

Guilty here spending part of the party hour with the Looneys bringing drinks back to our room. We were directly below the party, 2 floors down. I spent the first solid half hour socializing.

I did not drink during the cocktail hour as I don't like being drunk for dinner.

We learned that even though our cabin was in the right part of the ship for the Looney party, borrowing a 32 ounce cup from a fellow Looney for the past-guest party, served a more efficient process. Discretely pouring each drink (stick with the same color folks) into the plastic cup only required two round trips back to our cabin.

After dinner party:

Good morning Marie. Looks like we were posting about the same time this morning.

I didn't know why there were a "couple" always coming back to the party

(I never saw them leave, but I saw them come back a couple times )

I didn't think much about it, at the time.

But later they said they had taken drinks back to their room for later...

I believe they may have taken a photo of their stash... Could be posted on FB, not sure but I think Dawn saw it somewhere LOL? And from what I understand, those same folks asked for an extra drink and were given 3 drinks at the end of the hour...and I don't think we were ever asked to leave the lounge, but it was getting to be dinner time, and the play off game was on the big screen. so we had some getting extra beers to go watch the end of the game. All in all I would say it was a great deal. and 1 1/2 hours would be plenty if it were like our Liberty one. Just harder to ask Non drinkers to pay more for 1 1/2 hours to hang around and visit with us. lots of pop I guess LOL

But I think we are worth $12 for an hour :p

All this talk about a cocktail party I have to go to church now :o

Posted at the same time Marie.

Not sure about the 3 drinks at the end. We did linger socializing wise. Nobody ever asked us to leave but the drinks did stop well before we left.

I'm sorry if this upset you. Andy stayed and socialized with a group; there are many pictures of that. I think he came with me once?

I'm just not an afternoon drinker and wanted some drinks for later.

Hi Mimi - kinda funny seeing all those drinks without a tray under them:eek:. I know that y'all kept them in the frig while you went to dinner, right.

Marie - very good point about having the non-drinkers pay more for soda? We will see how the group votes on the amount of time for the party.

I really am sorry to anyone I offended.

I thought it would make for a good story, but I guess it didn't.

Mistakes were made... lessons learned. Marie, I sent you a message through Facebook. I just feel terrible that I upset you. I hope you'll forgive me and we can just put this in the past.

Please continue on with your SMDer cruise talk. Sorry for the interruption... I know you're all going to have a blast! :)

Rich are we still meeting up in June? I hope so....You ship is in quite lae, so we thought we might take you for a drive and show you some of the sights, and then back to our place to sit on the deck and share wobblys. And whatever West wants :D

So busy around here, after being laid up so long it doesn't leave much time for my planning/packing/mani/pedi/tanning for my cruise in a couple of weeks.

So I am so sorry for all the awol I have been, b ut I should be up to my game now. I missed last week so that means
