imfunny Posted September 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 8, 2011 We are doing the pre- tipping. But would like to know who else we are going to need to tip and about how much is the average? Do we tip the shuttle driver if he helps with bags?

Do we tip the shuttle driver if he helps with bags? You will tip the porter once you get to the port. Some tip by how many bags they have some just give a flat amount it's up to you. kujobie Posted September 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 8, 2011 I would tip a shuttle driver a couple bucks, especially if it's a free hotel shuttle, same with the porters, buck or two per bag. Drink prices on the ship have tip included, so no need to tip bartenders or drink servers. Your pre-paid tips will cover room steward, waiters, and buffet staff. If you order room service, it is customary to tip them a buck or two. Some people tip the maitre d', especially if he provides anything special like gets you a good table, or changes your dining time, etc.
TheCalicoCat Posted September 8, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2011 We gave extra to our room attendants - our son dumped the room service Cheerios in our bed twice... He did not do it on purpose, but they changed the linens for us anyway. Porters - a buck a bag (unless it is a huge heavy bag) We also gave extra to Hery - the best bar guy ever! *Mach* Posted September 8, 2011 #5 Share Posted September 8, 2011 The only person not included in the automatic gratuity is the Maitre d'. If you go to the Welcome Aboard show this will be explained. An envelope for a gratuity for him/her will be left in your cabin prior to the last night of the cruise. If he or she has gone a bit above and beyond feel free to tip... five bucks is sufficient. Outside of that individual, as others have mentioned, the porters who take your bags to be checked normally are tipped a buck or so per bag and much the same for the shuttle driver. A buck or two per order for room service is the norm. Lots of folks tip their cabin steward and dining room servers additional if the service warrants... and we feel it often does. :)
H82seaUgo Posted September 8, 2011 #6 Share Posted September 8, 2011 the porter only if your "hire" him to transport your bag, room service and spa service if used. everything else tippable will be charged to you, basically bar service, which they will conveniently add 15%. you can adjust that if you so desire by changing the tip amount and retotalling. make sure you match your receipts to your account. skip any suggestions of tipping the md, unless he personally does something for you. FlaGrl4Evr Posted September 8, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 8, 2011 Shuttle Driver Taxi Driver Porter Maitre-D- at your descretion Excursion & Tour Guides-- not mandatory but they do expect one. Extra to Room Steward-Waitstaff and favorite Bartender/Server at your descretion. Room Service- they are not included in the auto-tips so $2 or $3 depending on how much you order. Spa Services-- didn't use the services but I believe they expect a tip. ??? Camp Carnival- ????? ******* Before we left for our cruise, we went to the bank and got about $40-$50 in singles and fives. It really did help to have this money ready and not expect anyone to have to make change. ****
