divadiverfl Posted March 29, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2005 Can anyone show me a site with a map of the area in Calica? We are renting a car for the day and want to study the area before we go:)
TNtraveler Posted March 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Well, Calica isn't much more than a dot on any map, because there isn't anything there except the dock -- it's a gravel pit (literally). However, here is a site with maps of Riviera Maya, the general area: http://www.cancunmap.com/riviera_maya_2.html Calica is opposite Xcaret park (just across the pier's sound) at the top of the F map. Click at the bottom of the page to see an image of the other side. These maps are quite detailed with great info -- only $7.95 each, I think. There is another map for Playa del Carmen, which is 4.5 miles north of the port, and the nearest 'tourist' city.

Zeno Posted March 30, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Calica may be a gravel pit BUT the surrounding area is chock full of things to see and do. Water Parks: Xel Ha and Xcaret Ruins: Tulum or further afield Coba or Chichen Itza Shopping: Playa Del Carmen Great Beaches: Akumal, Kantenah, the beach in Playa Del Carmen, Playa Moreno BTW : the above mentioned map will give you the locations and a brief description of the above. Anyone renting a car will have a great day in this area (the hard part will be deciding what to do).
Born_to_Cruise05 Posted March 30, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Has anyone done the Dolphin swim at Xel-HA? I want to know if someone with you is able to get close enough while you are with the Dolphins to take pictures? If so do you know how far away they would be from where you are swimming?
