Pirate Encounter - Jolly Roger through NCL

We are going on NCL Pearl in November and my sons (7 & 8) wanted to do this excursion. Do they have to jump off the boat? They are a little leary about doing that and asked me to cancel snorkeling. They are great swimmers but aren't too keen on jumping off a boat into the ocean.

 

Has anyone gone on this excursion recently? What type of activities do they do for the kids? Do they really fire the cannons and swab the deck?
