LEGEND of the SEAS

Recommended Posts

We will be sailing the Legend in February 2006. I read somewhere that she is scheduled for a refurbish. Does anyone have information about it - when she will go and and come back into service? Are they just doing cosmetic things - new carpets, drapes, etc?

I don't know about any scheduled refurbish (could be one; I just don't know) but we were on the Legend in Sept '04 and the ship looked very nice. No discernable wear or oldness, that we could see!

We were pleasantly surprised!

I am sailing on her in December. I was too, worried about her age. I had read that she was refurbished ln 2000 and sched again for dry dock April 2005. I have read mixed reviews about her. But everyone has a opinion. I will let you know.

We got off the Legend a week ago. According to the casino dealers, when the Legend finishes its current panama canal trip, it will do a transatlantic, finishing up in spain on the 19th of April. It will then be refurbished through the end of April. I believe its starts cruising in Europe on May 3rd. There's not a whole lot going to be done, from what I heard. New carpeting in the casino is one thing (also replacing the craps table (which doesn't get a lot of play on the Europe cruises) with another roulette table (which does) (interesting)).

I found it to be in reasonably good shape.

We are sailind the first week of December. The 3 rd ,I think. We will be getting off when you are embarking. I promise to keep her in great shape for you. This is our 11th cruise but first to have a aft cabin. I am very excited about that.

We will be on Legend this Sunday so I appreciate the comments about her condition. Firefighterhoop I read your review and appreciate your comments. Embarkation sounded like a nightmare. The only other RCI cruise I have been on was very disorganized at embarkation also.

Considering your age I can see where your experience probably didn't keep you well entertained. But for us, late 50's it will probably be fine. As long as we have a balcony and meals we don't require much more.

We disembark Legend on April 20, in Lisbon so I guess that is when she will go into drydock.

please post your thoughts on Legend...will be on her over Thanksgiving. First time on RCCL. We selected the cruise for the ports of call and the fact that it's sailing out of Tampa...plus we wanted to try another cruise line. Have an aft junior suite...anxious to see how we like that location! Enjoy your cross-Atlantic cruise...am envious!

Hi neighbor - we'll also be on the TransAtlantic cruise with Missylou on Sunday. It's also our first try on a RCCL ship and we are also in an Aft Junior Suite... so I'll let you know our opinion when we get back. It would have been even better if this cruise was leaving from Tampa. Enjoy your Thanskgiving cruise.

We are considering booking a cruise on the Legend for February 2006 as well. We're planning on doing so while we are on board the Sovereign in September. I've heard great things about Sovereign's refurbishment, so it will be really neat to know that Legend has gone through a recent one as well. :) We're considering the February 25th 7-day Western Caribbean itinerary for Hubby's 40th birthday. It will be a our first get-away from the 4 kiddos in a long time. Our oldest turns 18 in January so WOOHOO, cruising, here we come! ;) BTW, the only concern I have about that particular cruise at all is that there will be EIGHT ships in port in Cozumel!

  • 2 weeks later...

estj: we too will be on the legend over thanksgiving. we're sailing with the extended family. 14 of us in all. do you have any kids? i, myself have 2. 15yo girl and 11yo boy. my sister son will be 7 the week after we return. we got a GREAT rate, but only have a room with a view. my sister opted for a balcony, but you're very lucky with that junior suite!! i've been diligently researching what we're going to do in each port. as a group, we've decided that eating dinner together every night will be good enough and that it's not necessary for us to be spending all our days together, as well.

We got home yesterday from our Transatlantic cruise on the Legend. We loved the ship and crew. The highlight for us was our Junior suite in the Aft - it was awesome as was it's balcony!!! What number is your cabin?

The food was outstanding - we were expecting awful food after reading these boards, and this being our first RCCL cruise thought that the food would not nearly match up to Celebrity or Princess. WRONG!!! It was excellent - especially the steaks they were some of the most tender and flavorful that we've had at sea. Great Australian Head Chef!

Well she's in Dry Dock as we speak - so I'm sure she'll look brand new when she's done at the beginning of May. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks for the info. My daughter was asking me this week-end about the pools. She wanted to know if they were salt water and I said yes, I thought so. Were they salt water and if so did the conditioning of the water make it less salty?

Thanks again for the info.

Sorry I don't know much about the 7th deck cabins. Ours was a Junior Suite - is yours as well? If so I can give you the info.

With regards to salt water pools - I believe it is only Princess that has fresh water pools. The Legend definately has salt water.
