Grand Cayman

Cruising in the western carribean later this month and wondering if anyone can suggest a beach in Grand Cayman where we can go for the day and relax have some drinks and food that isn't too far away from the port?

Seven Mile Beach and Rum Point come to mind. Why don't you check out the Western Caribbean board? I'm sure there is a lot of info there.

I am planning to go to Sea Grape Beach. It seems like it is fairly easy and cheap to take the bus there as well.

From what I have read the bus fare is around $2.00 and you can catch a bus by walking out of the port area and walking towards the public library.

Any bus traveling north from Georgetown will take you anywhere on 7-mile beach and any bus heading shouth will take you to the cruise port.

7 mile beach has numerous stops. One of the first stops is Royal Palm. It's approx $4pp taxi ride. Beach access is free. You can choose to rent a chair/umbrella or just plop your towel down in the sand for free. There is an open air bar area. It not far from port. Sometimes you can even see some of the ships that are anchored.

 

The water is clear as a swimming pool and generally calm (no big waves). It's a very relaxing cheap excursion on your own. And there are always taxis waiting to take you back to the ship.
