RCI vs Carnival

We have a wedding booked with RCI for 2012. Due to other circumstances, we were almost forced to move to a different cruiseline (long story). When we started looking at Carnival we were amazed at how much more you get for less $$. For the same price for a ceremony and some strawberries on RCI, we could have ceremony, reception with open bar and hors d'ouvres, cake, champagne, keepsake champagne flutes etc...

Switching isn't really an option, but it does make you feel like you got screwed.

:(

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. When we priced things out we realized that even though our cruise would be more expensive with princess, the cost of the wedding would be more with carnival. (Princess has since changed their rates for weddings.) Things kinda evened out in the end though. Could that be the situation that maybe you're paying more for the wedding but less for the cruise?

I wish that was the case with our wedding. It is a more expensive cruise because it is a 10 day vs. 7 but the wedding prices are double on RCI than they would have been on Carnival. Does anyone know why it would be like that? They all seem to be done through the same company.....

Since each cruiseline sets the price, not the contracted wedding planning company, there's truly no way to know why one cruiseline has their pricing set a certain way.

We usually find that Carnival is cheaper in general, so maybe that's why their packages are more affordable?
