Weather in Belize in December?

What air/river temperatures should I expect in Belize in early December? We are planning to do the cave tubing.

 

I expect since we will hike through the rain forest we might expect some rain. It would be nice if it were sunny and hot and then we got in the cool water, but how likely is this? How often does it actually rain and how hard?

It was sunny and pretty warm (80s) but not too humid. We were on the Lamanai and New River Safari tour so we were inland. If you hike and then hit the water, it will probably be a nice combination.
