shives Posted November 27, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted November 27, 2011 Thank you for your replies to my questions. I much appreciate it. If you had only one day in Progresso, what would you do??
WilliamLawson Posted December 3, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 3, 2011 Hmm. Tough one. There is a lot to do and so little time. Definitely not stay in Progreso. I can do beach in Cozumel. I would head into Merida and visit the governors palace (not really a palace, but that's what they call it here) and check out the murals. Then visit the oldest Catholic church in the Americas and breathe in the ancient-ness of it all. Have a refreshing sherbet at nearby Colon, which has been around since 1905 and is a local favorite. Haggle with the vendors that will stop by the table as I am slurping on a coconut sherbet. Buy something. Cross the square (currently under construction) and visit the house of Francisco de Montejo, the founder of the city, now a bank and attached museum (with really refreshing air conditioning). Walk two blocks to the Chaya Maya and have some real Yucatecan food. Get an espresso at the Italian Coffee Company on the way back to the square. Head back to the beach, stick my toes in the sand and have a frosty cerveza or margarita before boarding the shuttle to get back on the ship. How is that for a plan? :D

mommyto3girls:) Posted January 30, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2012 I used Capt McCaa and Reel Blessed last week and he was great! I would highly recommend him. I tried the website and it wasn't working. Would you mind me asking how much your excursion was, for how many people and how long it lasted? thanks
okstpat Posted January 31, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 31, 2012 It was 450 for 6 of us. He picked us up right where the bus drops you off at about 8:00 am and you can fish up until 2:00 if you want.
