RLM77 Posted April 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2005 The time is fast approaching when we must decide on which excursions to sign up for our June Alaska cruise on Mariner. The Tracy Arm Fjord sounds wonderful, but I wonder how difficult it is to board a catamaran directly from the Mariner? Has anyone done this? Also, would it be advisable to also take the coach tour to Mendenhall glacier or would we be "glaciered out"? Thanks all
Daw6id Posted April 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2005 We took the Tracy Arm tour - it was the highlight of an otherwise splendid cruise. I don't even remember problems boarding the catamaran. We didn't tour Mendenhall Glacier - but certainly had a great glacier experience in Tracy Arm, getting up close and watching the Sawyer Glacier calve. We also saw all variety of wildlife, from seals to bears to whales , on that boat. I spent the afternoon wlaking around Juneau, up to the capital, checking out the used book stores, and had a fine time, at no cost. David
