shoreguy Posted April 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2005 NCL Dawn Cabin choices: 10722 vs 9056? Which would you choose and why? For me the choice is easy - 9056. Great location forward on the Dawn but not to far forward. Check out the deckplan for the foloors above and below. If you are like me you will be using the forward stairway 70% of the time, Mid 20%, and aft 10%. It is a quick trip fron 9056 to Spinakers, Stardust, Casino, Dazzels, Impressions, pool area, Bimini....... Plus when you dock there are usually a forward and midship gangway. The forward gangway is always less busy with quick acces to your cabin From 10722 it is a long trip. Easy access to the Spa and Venetian and garden cafe
dishealth11 Posted April 8, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted April 8, 2005 Forgive me for my first-time-cruiser questions, but what is forward and midship gangway? I thought perhaps that the 10722 would be a bit less busy, more serene, with an unobstructed view of where we've been??? On the deck plan, are those stairs behind the 9056 cabin? 107xx cabins are higher--that's better right? For me the choice is easy - 9056. Great location forward on the Dawn but not to far forward. claudie Posted April 8, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2005 I would book 9056 because 10722 is right below the 24 hour open gym.
dishealth11 Posted April 8, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted April 8, 2005 Really? One of my other new-cruiser questions was whether the cabins are sound-proof. I guess not then. I would book 9056 because 10722 is right below the 24 hour open gym.
seahorse Posted April 8, 2005 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2005 Hi, 9056 is close to the elevators and stairs, could be busy. and more motion. 10722, in my opinion would be a better choice. I don`t mind walking to "get there" It will be a quiter cabin. The gym is on the second floor above the lap pool and sauna. You could run there for a quick swim:D Have sailed 10 aft many times. You exit your cabin turn right, walk turn left and left again and you have access to the ship. You may be surprised how little time you spend in the cabin except for quick trip back. You are correct very little traffic near 10722. It is in fact at the end of the world. No reason for anyone to pass by except your neighbors. Your view in both cabins will be about the same. With walls on both sides of the balcony both will look straight out to the side. Up to you. I have no idea what you want from the cruise. If it is to spend a lot of time in your cabin and not see people thats one thing. If you want to enjoy all the ship has thats another. If access to the bars, casino or shows is not what you want then your choice will be different then mine. The question was which would you choose. Gangway is the way you get on and off the ship in port.

I was thinking I'd be able to turn my seat towards the back and see everything behind us. Not too sure how long I'll stay in the cabin. I hope not long, but with all the seat hogging, crowded pools, etc (perhaps I'm reading too many threads), I may need to retreat. Thanks to all for your responses. Throw out the highs and the lows - the real story is in the middle :) I think you will always find a spot on deck to sit, The pools are never that crowded unless you are trying to swim laps. Now the area right next to pool is the natural habitat of the "seat hog". They have been known to move their towel covered chairs right next to the pool making you walk a twisted path to use the pool. They are not dangerous. More of a pest. :D Enjoy your cruise
naragonl Posted April 8, 2005 #10 Share Posted April 8, 2005 I have not been on DAWN yet (sailing 8-21-05), but looking at the deck plans, I'd be concerned with the elevators and stairs being right there by my cabin. for 9056. Again, that's just looking at the deck plans. :o

claudie Posted April 8, 2005 #12 Share Posted April 8, 2005 The question applies to NCL Dawn? 10722 is right below the 24 hour gym. The gym is not on the 2nd floor as previously posted by someone. I have heard that the rooms below the gym can be noisy. The gym on the Dawn is open 24 hours although most people work out early morning. I'm usually there by 6-6:30. If you like to sleep late you might not enjoy the disruption. I enjoy walking all over so I don't pay attention to location relative to whatever. I wouldn't want to be below the gym.
