DMJmom Posted December 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2011 Hi everyone. My family is taking our first cruise in 11 days (yay!) on the Monarch. Our two stops are Coco Cay and Nassau. We have a bunch of kids with us and thought they would enjoy the glass bottom boat. We were all set to schedule the Nassau one, then I read some reviews and they don't seem very good. I see that Coco Cay has one as well, it's a little pricier but the pictures make it look nicer. Has anyone done one (or both) of these? I can't really find any recent reviews on the Coco Cay one. Thanks for the help! Also - anyone know what the weather/temperature is there this time of year? We're wondering if it will be too cool in the morning, (9 or 9:30) and we should do a later one? SuchAVirgo Posted January 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2012 I have been on both and liked Coco Cay a lot better. If you have any specific questions I would be happy to answer for you. In Coco Cay they actually let us hold Star Fish, crabs, etc. A bit more interactive.
landerslp Posted November 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Are you saying the Nassau glass bottom trip is not as interactive? We are having trouble finding something for a 4 yr old girl in Nassau. There are 3 excursions on Coco Cay but her age keeps her from snorkeling and boat trips from Nassau. Should we book two excursions on Coco Cay and then just do a beach in Nassau? She is a strong swimmer and we would like to teach her to snorkel but the Nassau ones don't allow her age unless we look privately. We are signed up for the earliest glass bottom boat and could do the sting ray in the afternoon. I know this original post was old but maybe someone has new comments. steven.a Posted November 21, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 21, 2013 We have done both glass bottom boats. Coco cay was better. We have also done the glass bottom kayak in Nassau. I liked that better than the glass bottom boat. The 4 year old could sit in the middle and look threw the glass. They also let you swim and snorkel. The crew is great and they point out all the rich and famous houses along the way. Like berry bonds, Oprah, chuck Norris, and Nicholas cage who happened to be on his dock when we went by and he even waved when a lady yelled at him. landerslp Posted December 3, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Just a follow up. We did the glass bottom boat on coco cay and really enjoyed it. Was not crowded, crew took pictures of us, brought sea life on board, etc. chased down elusive. Nurse shark and we saw dolphins as well. Guide was very knowledgeable. Great view of our ship in background of some of our photos.
