Grand Princess Window Suite

Currently on the Grand in one of the new window suites. Prior to cruising I found limited comments on the window suites and wanted to offer some observations.

Pro's

The finish level in the suites is very nice with a mixture of light colors and dark wood work. Above the very comfortable bed is a trayed ceiling with nice lighting. The room is essentially two cabins wide and has a large bathroom with marble floors and walls. We had F315 which is HC accessible so it had a floor level shower instead of a tub and shower combination. The cabin has tons of storage with his and hers closets and 3 drawer large night stands. The cabin is very comfortable with two large picture windows, love seat and a few chairs. The suite perks are a great plus including free laundry, priority tender passes, evening snacks and a 1st time set up of the mini-bar. A prior post of the Carib princess window suite which had pictures looks very much like the cabin on the Grand.

Con's

If you enjoy having a balcony, even the nice room and suite perks may not be a sufficent offset. We will book a balcony or mini-suite on future cruises. Our cabin was at the end of the hallway adjacent the casino area. Smoke from the casino flowed into the cabin until the staff closed the suite hallway doors. Even this did not eliminate the smell of smoke when the casino had lots of smokers. Unsure if the suites down the hall had similar issues but the smoke smell was an issue. (unsure what impact smoking changes will have on smoking within the casino.)

Side note

We were blessed by the upgrade fairy and upgraded to the WS paying an additional fee. I think the lack of a balcony would make paying the full WS price difficult, unless you strongly dislike having a balcony. The cabin design and location mid ship on deck 6 may be appealing to others.
