Rare Kristal Blade Posted December 20, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 20, 2011 Following on from my query about Sat Nav being available in rented car I have now discovered that Alamo, my rental company, will charge for a Sat Nav. My new questions are... How much would it cost to buy a Sat Nav in USA? I can get one in the UK for about £50, but it does not cover USA. Would the Sat Nav also cover Canada? Thank you in anticipation of your help
skisteamboat Posted December 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2011 You can get them for around $80 and up. Most have at least the USA and some include Canada and if they don't you can purchase the maps online. If you have a smart phone, either iPhone or Android, the maps systems are more than adequate for me. However, if you are coming from the UK that would mean roaming charges which can be exorbitant when using a UK phone. Cheers
Rare Kristal Blade Posted December 22, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted December 22, 2011 Thanks Skisteamboat, was beginning to think nobody had ever bought a Sat Nav in USA!! Yes, we have an iphone but have had our fingers burned - and our wallet- when we were "roaming" in China. Ouch! Won't do that again. We are touring in LA, Texas, CA so think buying the Sat Nav is going to be cheaper now than asking Alamo to provide one. Merry Christmas or Festive Greetings!:)
