PyeDog Posted April 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2005 Arriving at MIA at 8am, we thought we might eat a liesurely breakfast at the airport and then head to the cruise terminal at 10:30 or 11:00. Where should we go at the airport to get a good breakfast? We're flying American Airlines. Thanks, Pyedog
pennstategal Posted April 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2005 For some local flavor and good fresh food try La Carretta! It's Cuban cuisine located on the departure level, level 2 near AA. I think it's in concourse D or E, it's huge, you cannot miss it. It's cafeteria style, you point to what you want, pay then find a seat carrying your tray. I've had the egg sandwich on cuban bread before, it's huge, plenty for two people. Pennstategal
PyeDog Posted April 17, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted April 17, 2005 Thanks! An egg sandwich would work for breakfast. Do you know if they specifically serve breakfast? I'm not sure what Cuban people eat for breakfast; I always think of black bean soup and spicy food and, well, lunch or dinner type food. Think they're open at 8am? Thanks Again, Pyedog
pennstategal Posted April 28, 2005 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2005 Yes, they are open specifically for breakfast! I think I got my sandwich at around 7am. They have yogurt, juices, cereal hot and cold, fruit salad, all the American Stuff as well as a few Cuban specialties.
jspirit Posted February 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2007 Any big food court area or nice family restaurant we could have dinner at while we are waiting for our son's flight to arrive?
Bequia Posted February 10, 2007 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2007 Thanks! I'm not sure what Cuban people eat for breakfast; A typical Cuban breakfast consists of a tostada and cafe con leche. The tostada is a portion of Cuban bread which is buttered then toasted on an electric grill. The cafe con leche is a combination of strong, espresso coffee with warm milk. Cubans break the tostada into pieces, then dunk them into the cafe con leche, as Americans would dunk their doughnuts into their coffee. Additionally, some may eat ham croquetas, smoky creamed ham shaped in finger rolls, lightly breaded, and then fried. For those on the run, with no time or desire to eat, a shot of cafe cubano, Cuban coffee, will revive the dead. Oh, btw, they like eggs too, just like the rest of us.
