10 day eastern cruise with 6 ports

I need some assistance from the veterans. This will be our first cruise and I want to make sure we will have enough money for this trip.

We will have 5K total.

These are the costs I have identified (for both of us):

Cruise $2100

Plane $500

Hotel stay (2 nights) $200

Passports: $160 (?)

Fort Laurdale before cruise $100

Total $3060

I would say we are moderate drinkers (avg 3-4 a day) and want to do some activities at the ports (ex: feed the rays, some shopping nothing outrageous, etc).

Please note I have not included tipping in my costs though I know it is automatically taken out. I read it is around $10-$11 per day, but am unsure if that is per room or per person.

Based on the above calculations we will have $1930 for the BOTH of us (tipping not included) for a 10 day trip. Is this a good amount to have or am I cutting it WAY too close?

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN :)

Make sure your cruise totals include port charges, taxes, and insurance. Also, don't forget transfers (or other transportation) to and from the airport/hotel.

Onboard extras might include snacks/room service items, purchases from the shops (everything from toiletries to souvenirs), spa and salon treatments, photographs, wine at dinner, or casino expenses. These charges will often depend on the line you cruise. Port extras might include meals, taxi fares, souvenirs, excursions you book yourself, etc.

The daily gratuities you listed are probably per person. As noted on other threads, there are other tips to consider, not just the recommended ones, so make sure to budget plenty for that.

Good luck and have fun!

Also with your hotel stay don't forget to eat. You will have $200.00 for normal ship tips. Room service is a dollar or two everytime. Porters/cab drivers $1.00 per bag.Drinks are about $5-6 each. So figure about $400.00 for drinks at 3 each. Do you drink wine, order by the bottle $28 and up.
