flagger Posted December 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2011 We are looking at a POA sailing next December. We would be in Hilo on Christmas Day and wonder what would be open and if any tours would be offered if any? Can some of the experts give us some advice/ feedback? kapoho2 Posted December 30, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2011 I am sure the ship's shore excursions will be operating on Christmas Day....at least most of them. VNP will be open, so you can always rent a car and drive up there. Probably many of the stores in Hilo will be closed, although I noticed that some of the fast food places were open on Christmas Day this year....sad but true. If there is a ship in port, there will be plenty to do.
flagger Posted December 30, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted December 30, 2011 Mahalo for taking the time to respond. We are more of a rent a car and go off on our own rather than take a sponsored tour. My wife and I have been to Hawaii twice and we decided to let our daughter experience it once for next Christmas on a cruise before we go back on a land vacation.
