CASPALL Posted January 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2012 I was in messina on Adonia. It's a lovely place for a quick walk around. Its only a 5 min walk to the main square from the ship. We sat outside drinking coffee and prosecco and waiting for the clock to strike 12 - all sorts of noises and things happen. I wont tell you any more! The cathedral there is beautiful. The buses go from there as well and you can take one to Taormina - 17kms away. We had been before so didnt bother, but if you havent been - go for it. Have a pizza for lunch - a nice change from the ship food. Caryl
Thejuggler Posted January 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Valencia is a great city. Smaller than Barcelona and less touristy. Old city centre with great market, old riverbed extending towards the beach which has some modern architecture, concert halls, museums and a park. It also has a huge aquarium and sealife centre which would take most of the day to see. There's also a large expanse of beach. Valencia is where paella originated and the locals eat it for lunch. Definately worth having.

Rare trfccruiser Posted February 13, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2012 As well as watching the clock tower which is worth it you can climb it too -(you have to pay but it's only a few Euros)it's a lot of steps but the view of the island(and the ship) is fab.
