Best Western Avalon New Orleans

Never stayed there, but it is not a good area of the city. No restaurants to speak of except fast-food joints, and it's 30 minutes or so away from downtown/French Quarter.

Unless you are just looking for a place to sleep, look for something downtown.

We really don't care what's around the area but want to be safe!

I had to look this hotel up - I had never heard of it. It is New Orleans East (I-10 Service Road) - not a good section of town. It was not a good area before Katrina and it still isn't. This area was devastated by Katrina - it took six years to get a grocery store to open there.

I would recommend almost anywhere in the city over this area.
