Hotel Al Ponte Antico Venice?

Anyone stayed here and can recommend--esp. rooms? Thanx. :)

We did not actually stay there, but we did visit.

 

We stayed at Locanda Orseolo which is owned by the same people. Because they wanted us to see Al Ponte Antico, they invited us to go over and look around and enjoy the balcony patio that overlooks the canal.

 

It is beautiful and I have only heard very positive things about it.

 

It is more expensive than Locanda Orseolo.

Thanks for the speedy response, Bobalink. Was the interior lovely? Did you see any of the rooms? I want to try to get a hotel with a true "palazzo" feel with antique furnishings.

The price is high I am seeing. :eek: I also see there are only 9 rooms--4 on the canal side. I can find pics of the canal rooms but cannot find pics of the "interior" rooms, so wanted to see if we should bite the bullet for a canal Jr. Suite or Deluxe.

I did not see the inside of any guest rooms, only walked through the lobby area, up to the balcony patio.

 

From my very brief visit, I would say Al Ponte Antico had a more "formal" vibe.

 

I would not hesitate to stay there (not in my budget, though) based on what I saw.

 

Also, the folks who run the Locanda Orseolo are truly amazing. So, that said, I am sure their influence is also evident at Al Ponte Antico.

Glad to help! I can't wait to go back to Venice again. One visit was not enough! The location was perfect, close to St. Mark's square, but tucked away in a private courtyard.

 

We reserved a room with a view of the small canal. I can't recall how much we paid, but we didn't break the bank. Like I said, it was considerably less than Al Ponte Antico.

 

Contact them directly for availability and pricing. They will respond promptly.

The price includes a fabulous breakfast and they make the BEST crepes and cappuccino.

 

Alex and Gigi and the entire staff were fabulous. They gave us directions for sight seeing, where to get the best gondola and recommended wonderful restaurants.

 

I hope you find the perfect place for your stay in Venice. We would return to Locanda Orseolo in a heart beat!
