patca Posted April 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2005 We are arriving in Puerto Quetzal on May 4th on the Zaandam. Haven't been able to find much info. Is there anything to do in the port? Are taxi tours to Antigua or Lake Aitilan available? If so, approximate cost? Is it safer to take the ship's tour? I would appreciate any input. Thanks.;) ;)
4kitties Posted August 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2005 Read the State Department warnings before booking any shore excursions in this port - the warnings are frightening!
cmmcruiser Posted October 8, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2005 State Warnings... Pulease!! Do you listen to everything the government says? I have gone to Guatemala many times as my family is from there & it is a beautiful country, with so much to see. Patca at this point you have already gone on your trip & I would invite you to post your review, but to all others, if you are at all nervous, I would suggest you stick to the ship excursions. There isn't really anything at all to do at the port & I wouldn't take a taxi at the port either unless your just going to the beach but I do hope everyone gives this stop a chance. As with every other place, be a smart traveler (common sense) ... watch your stuff, don't wear flashy jewelry, take only the money you will need, etc... Happy Travels. travel-kat Posted November 12, 2005 #4 Share Posted November 12, 2005 We will be docking in Puerto Quetzal Ash Wed. 06. I want to go to Antigua, but prefer not to book the tour offered by the ship because I've been before and want more independence. Just want a safe transport to and from for 4 of us. Can anyone point me in the right direction.
