scfa99 Posted February 8, 2012 Author #51 Share Posted February 8, 2012 "Sail away we stayed up on deck 13 as long as we could but the wind sent us back to our windless aft balcony to enjoy going under the bridge. Here are a couple pics:"These are great pics that you took. Where were you when you took the picture of the Statue of Liberty? Is this from your room or from a public location on the Gem? That pic was taken on deck 13 mid-ship before we retreated back to the room. There are spots where the glass has sections that are open so you can point your camera through so you don't get any distortion from the glass. scfa99 Posted February 9, 2012 Author #52 Share Posted February 9, 2012 I've had the same experience as you with noise in the early morning from above. You seem to think this problem is because you were over the Garden Cafe.....Nope. I had the same problem on the Jewel and on the Pearl in mini-suites which weren't too far aft. The thing is, the Gem is not a new ship. So when you called the desk to report the noise and your concern, do you think this is the first time that has happened? Or, do you think week after week after week on all these ships passengers have to endure what you and I did? That's a good question. It sounded like it was something they were aware of and thought they could correct it. They did correct it slightly (less duration of noise) but we still woke up. Having all the mini suites on deck 11 is frustrating for us because most are under very active areas of the ship. In the future we'll try and find rooms under carpeted areas as we really like the additional space the mini provides since we usually have 3-4 in a room.
