sylent Posted January 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Does anyone know if there is a Scuba place in Grand Cayman that you can refer your final dive for certification? And what they charge?
drew sailbum Posted January 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Most any dive shop can help you. Most are affiliated with the PADI dive training agency. If your training has been with another agency then a referral can still be done but it is a little more complicated. You can only complete a maximum of three training dives in one day. For cruise ship visitors this normally means they need to coordinate with shops in more than one port to complete the 4 to 5 required dives for certification. Pricing is entirely up to the individual shop. Do not be surprised if the price to complete your referral dives is higher than an entire training course in the States that includes the classroom and pool sessions too. sylent Posted January 25, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted January 25, 2012 Thanks for the info, I did a little research using Google and found out exactly what you said. I was hoping I could get all my open water dives in one day but doesn't look like that's possible.
drew sailbum Posted January 26, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2012 One of the dive shops with on-site shore diving might be the most flexible in helping you. They would not need to coordinate with a boat which makes things easier from their end of things. Sunset House might work well. It is close to the port and has a pool for a quick skills assessment before jumping into the sea for training dives.
