I'm a little confused on what "formal dress" on Carnival means . . .

We are taking a 40 day combined repositioning cruise and escorted trips in a few days. The escorted trip operator limits us to 1 (that is correct only 1) suitcase per person and no carry on luggage.

Try living for 40 days out of just 1 suitcase and than carring formal wear for 3 formal nights and informal wear for 4 nights in that same single suitcase.

Our formal night attire will not muster standards but we will be there or up on the Lido deck.

One thing for sure that you can bet on is that I will not miss a meal. Dressed properly now on that all bets are off.:)

We love getting dressed up and most of the folks we've seen do treat formal nights like New Year's Eve and really enjoy the photo opportunities, too!

I agree. I think this is the definitive answer to the question. Just "dress up" like you were going out on the town. What ever that means to you. I suspect for most that won't mean jeans and tank tops.

Since it's so cheap, I think all who know about it should bring a case of it on every cruise and present a can to each and every 'sweater-man' who sits at the pool looking like the missing link! ;)

I'm so glad I don' have this....ah..."condition". I think it's called the "Robin Williams" Syndrome. IBut I am growing out my beard for the cruise. A well trimmed beard is easier to keep up that a clean shave every morning. Besides, DW likes it. Tee Hee.

Halos-

So how's the nectarine doing these days?? :) Or are you considering a peach instead this morning?? ;) :p

Jeeze...I went from a nectarine to a pineapple

Tangible stubble within 24 hours and visible stubble within 48.

It seems I have 5 O'clock shadow issues.

How soon can I reapply this stuff and have it work???

At least there are still no red bumps

What a bummer! I think you have to wait 36 hours for reapplication... I'll be doing mine again later this week. Just wasn't sure if I needed a bit of stubble for the spatula to work! :)

Apparently it works better as time goes along...

OK you doubting Thomas out there.

For rough sea pictures go to this web site and brouse through their collection of vessels in very heavy seas.

But first take your sea sick medicine.

Some pictures show ships in 100 foot waves.

Now that is really rocking and rolling big time.

Notice also that the pictures of these vessels are in waters traveled by cruise liners. Just in different months of the year.

LOL!! No one here doubts rough seas...at least I don't think so....but I think you may have posted on the wrong thread ;)

Unless you want to say how the rough water will affect getting dressed properly for dinner, you're in the wrong place :p

OH...and PS...I wouldn't be doing any shaving during that kind of storm either!!

  • 3 weeks later...

Newbie here, I dress up to go to go to weddings, that's when my husband wears a suit and he certainly wouldn't want to pack one or wear one for vacation... what are our options and what besides "dressing up" would we miss?

Your option is eating up at the Lido restaurant.

All this "Formal Night" talk is really old. I think that for Formal Night means Formal Night. I personally do not like dressing up, I'm on vaction not going to a wedding or funeral, or any other occasion that might warrant dressing formally. Hence I do not intrude on the people who do like dressing up for a night or two. If you do not like dressing up that much, do like we do, eat at the buffet and grab a bucket of beer. Your happy, they are happy, and no one feels put out. :D
