guernseyguy Posted April 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2005 From the BBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/4451241.stm Good to see that both still 'newsworthy' in the UK at least - and hope the lucky so-and-sos sailing today enjoy the views! transat_jon Posted April 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2005 I notice the BBC seem to think that QM2 is ".....also the fastest and probably the most famous passenger ship in the world today. " There are a number of mid sized ferries that are faster, the HSS travel at 40 knots, let alone the dozens of secat things that travel at 50+. And don't forget QE2, she is markedly quicker. The most famous? Certainly one of the most famous, but not the most.
guernseyguy Posted April 16, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted April 16, 2005 They also think she 'weighs' 151,400 tons......but as I write, the QM2 is making her way down the Channel for New York at 28.3 knots, while the QE2 ambles along at a more sedate 25 knots for Funchal.....
