Carnival Site & Upgrade Question

My family(32 people) is going on the 7day Miracle cruise in July. My aunt(ex-travel agent, but I am questioning her alot on this booking) booked all the rooms and now that the final payment is in she gave me my booking number so I can book my shore excursions online. Also my girlfriend who is going got her number. My girlfriend is rooming with my aunt, cosuin and her friend. They have 4 people in the 1 room(interior stateroom). On the site it says upgrade stateroom and the price for a larger room is saying $1849 for persons 1+2 and $879 for persons 3+4. That total is $5456 before taxes. When I click make payment button it says the total(deposit + final) for the interior room was $5579. I know the latter price does include tax and the upgrade does not include tax. Is the upgrade price ON TOP of the $5579 we already paid? sorry for the confusing post hopefully someone can help.

Did you use a TA or did you book straight through Carnival? If you booked through Carnival, you should call them directly and get answers to your questions. It sounds like that is a little high!

To simplify my question, Does anyone know if the cost for an upgraded cabin on the reservations site on carnival is on top of the cabin thats already paid for? and also how much are taxes? if the total is $5456 before taxes, does anyone know what it would be approx. after?

A couple of nights ago, i couldn't get the upgrade option to work. Trouble with the carnival site. Now, I don't even have the option to upgrade!
