SusieQT Posted April 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 30, 2004 We will be cruising with a 3 1/2 year old escape artist on the Galaxy. How easy is it to open the balcony doors? I have heard you can purchase removable dead bolt locks, any experience?
brigittetom Posted April 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Ours was a pain to open. Your escape artist would have been safe in our cabin. MISSYLOU Posted April 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 30, 2004 On Mercury (sister to Galaxy) I thought there was a lock at the top of the door to keep little ones from going out there, but maybe I just dreamed that. Seems like the door was a little tough to open. MSBYRDY Posted April 30, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Just on Galaxy in March. Our door was tough to open and also had a child lock at the top, so you should be fine if you use that. Marilyn
Guest Posted April 30, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Yes, there is a child proof lock mounted high up the balcony door for the regular balcony cabins (swinging door) and the suites (sliding door) on board the Galaxy. PEFER33 Posted April 30, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Does anyone know if this lock is on Summit? I've got two escape artists. Phil
Guest Posted April 30, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 30, 2004 When we were on Summit's sister, Infinity, our balcony cabin had a sliding door with a childproof lock located high up the door frame. One related note, although in most cases the balcony hand rail is properly designed to discourage climbing, pay attention to the balcony furniture which can be used to climb up and over the rail..... SusieQT Posted April 30, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Thanks all! I am also freaked out about the furniture issue too. But, I have another 8 1/2 months of maturity on my side!
CaribbeanBound Posted April 30, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 30, 2004 Don't remember ever closing our Galaxy veranda door. We kept it open the entire voyage with a bungee cord.
