dhowell Posted April 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2005 Has anyone done this excursion through HAL? I want to know if my 71 & 76 year old parents can do this - what kind of seating is offered on the boat? What kind of boat is it? Any opinions would be great - my family will be off snorkeling that day and I need to find a good tour for my parents!! Thanks!:)
peaches from georgia Posted September 13, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 13, 2005 We thoroughly enjoyed it this past April and see no reason your parents would not feel the same or have any problem doing it. It is VERY popular and they split us into groups of approx. 20 on separate boats, each a cabin cruiser type. Seating was around the sides both indoor and outdoor, so they will have a choice. We had a wonderful guide and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful SEA portion of this excursion. There were many 70+ participants, so they will be of average age on the excursion. The SEE portion was also a lot of fun. The boat let's you off in a charming harbor for 30 minutes or so where there are a few shops and an outdoor cafe. You then travel in an open safari type of truck/bus and get a really nice tour throughout the interior of the island. We even had a shower in the rainforest area and the scrambling to get the plastic side shades down was a lot of laughs. We particularly liked the dual nature of this tour, seeing the island both from land and sea. Yes, we HIGHLY recommend this excursion (and we recommend very few HAL tours, to be truthful). This one was a winner for all ages. They will enjoy it, I feel sure. ;) EDIT: Just noticed the date of this question. Well, hopefully my reply helped someone. icehatchling Posted September 21, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2005 Peaches: your reply did indeed help someone. i'm trying to pick out which HAL excursions i'll be taking, and as it's my first cruise, i'm a little overwhelmed. we're going to half moon cay, roadtown tortola, st. thomas, and nassau. would you mind telling me a little about which HAL excursions you DO recommend, and what was wrong with the others? thanks very much. terrascape Posted September 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2005 Your timing was very good, Peaches. We have been reviewing some possibilities for our day on Tortola while on the Volendam. This excursion sounded the best to me. You have convinced us. One less decision to make.
Froufie Posted January 30, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 30, 2007 Does anyone know if there is an independent tour operator on Tortola who offers this tour? I am not on an HAL cruise but find this tour very interesting! Any info greatly appreciated! Froufie
