Anyone been on the Sky?

I was just wondering if movies are shown on the Sky. We will be on her when she becomes the Pride of Aloha and with a 12 day sailing I would hope that they would have movies but I see that there is only 1 theatre, and that's where the shows are. Can someone help with this question? Thanks Marilyn icon_cool.gif

They had movies & I think they showed them on a free standing screen in the library while she was the SKY. Definitely not worth the effort, & hopefully for all the fans of cinema they corrected that during the refurbishing.

Hi,

Just returned from the SKY Panama Canal.

One of the drawbacks of the ship is there is no movie theater. They set up a screen in conference #1 which accomodates approximately 40 chairs. If it is a popular movie, there isn't enough space for everyone even though we commandeered extra chairs from the card room and library. There were at least two women sitting on the floor during one movie.

According to the new Hawaii brochure, which I studdied very carefully for this theater reason, the only major change is in the conversion of the Casino to a conference area. So maybe there are plans to use it as the movie venue. I do know the Conference room they now use is totally inadequate for this size ship.

One alternative, and one we have had on other ships, is to have the in cabin TVs equipped with a VCR or DVD player and a Video Library where you can check out the movies you want to see. It works so well because you can stop the movie if you want to attend an activity or go eat or take a nap and then resume the movie at your convenience. I think this is the way all ships should provide movies.

So be prepared to get to the movie venue early for a seat.

Any more questions?

Enjoy, the Chocoholic, Joanne

Enjoy, Joanne
