What to do in Puerto Limon, Costa Rico?

We arrived in Puerto Limon for a day in early February aboard the HAL Zuiderdam. We actually booked our own tour with Okey Dokey Tours, a local tour company owned by Charlie Soto, the tour guide. He does nice tours, very pleasant, and as promised. Much more reasonable than the ship. Five hour tour including lunch [Tour A-1 on his web site] for $55.

Playa Bonita, on the tour, was beautiful. Tortuguera Canal is also pretty and worth a boat ride.

The town is mostly for locals and a five minute walk from the ship. The main street is bustling, and the Central Market, with local food and goods is worth a visit. I can also recommend a local coffee, 1820, which can be purchased in the port store or at a local grocery store (on the tour) for about half as much.
