FYI - there is the NY half marathon so if you are coming from the south, be prepared for some congestion.

 

Here's the info - you can click the route map on the website - the West Side Highway isn't closed until 42nd, but if you're coming from the south it may impact you.

Leaving March 18th on the Gem. Driving in from Allentown, Pa. Does anyone know of alternate directions to the pier since 42st will be closed.

yes, take I-78 to the new jersey turnpike north then follow the signs to the george washington bridge. take either level. if you take upper stay in the second from right lane and (following the signs for rte 9a, downtown) that will take you right onto the west side hwy (rte 9a). if you take the lower level stay left and follow the signs to rte. 9a, west side hwy. when the highway ends the port entrance is on the right (you will see the signs (and the ship).
