Beach next to port

Looking for a beach next to port. One that is good for a family, with a 4 year old. A beach bar, bathrooms, and a restaurant. Any advice? Thanks!

There are no beaches next to the port. The nearest one is Frigate Bay Beach approx. 7 - 10 mins. away - taxi fare return US$ 24 based on 1 - 4 persons. Over the hill there is South Friar's beach an extra 5 mins ride and nearly all everyone stop at Timothy Hill for some great photo ops. Both beaches have restaurants, bars and bathrooms, but South Friar's has a better selection with Carambola Beach Club at one end and Shipwreck at the other with other bars spread across the beach. Very good family beach. Round trip taxi fare to South Friar's from the port is US32 for 1 - 4 persons. The other beach is Cockleshell which is also a popular family beach - taxi fare US56 return. At Reggae Beach bar on Cockleshell there is Wilbur the pig, goat and monkey that your son would enjoy. At South Friar's you get to see monkey's, usually family groups and mongoose.

Better to go a little further from Port and head down the S E. Peninsular. Much nicer and more choice. We did Frigate Bay Beach once via water taxi because it was nearest to the Port - would not recommend either the beach or the water taxi! Go further south! I agree with the post above - check out the South Friars or Cockleshell beaches for family fun.
