We are going to be in Barbados on April 4. I booked some excursion on another islands, like St. Kitts etc, but prefer to save money on Barbados. Is any inexpensive way to explore island and may be visit a beach after lunch.

I would appreciate information about prices on Barbados, like taxi tour, cost of drinks, food and my be cocktails and beer.

Just do the bus up and down the west coast.

US$.75 each and stop anywhere you wish to try a beach that compells you.

Bus up to Speightstown then back down to Bridgetown. A lot to see and do for $.75 and miles of wonderful beaches and places to eat.

Ask the driver or the riders about your needs, they'd love to share their island with you. :)

We are planning on going to swim with the turtles right off the beach at paynes bay. No need for an expensice catamaran ride. Just a cab fare away!

It looked like a pretty far swim from the beach when we were there earlier this month. I have heard that sometimes locals will offer inexpensive trips out to see the turtles. It wasn't like swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman. The water was deep where the turtles were unlike Grand Cayman where you could stand and visit with the rays. Also there were about 5 or 6 turtles around our group not 50 like at the stingrays. The turtles really liked the squid that they were being fed and we were able to touch them and get a close look at them because they were coming around again and again looking to be fed.

its cheap to ride the buses but its not unlimited stops as far as i am aware. you can stay on the bus all the way from bridgetown to speightstown for approx 1 dollar but if you get off somewhere en route then you would have to pay again. that bus station is easy to find, its only few hundred yards from the cruise terminal, once you have gone about hundred yards or so to get past the many taxi drivers and locals selling trinkets then ask general public and they are so helpful, we used the local buses on our recent stop off ventura and we tried to get on the bus at the terminal without bus tokens and the locals were so helpful, and the driver waited while we went into the terminal and bought the tokens. the ride is interesting as you see the real barbados not just sightseeing. jump off the bus at mullins ( we didnt but wished we had). speightstown not great but we stopped off there and went to supermarket to grab some big bottles of cola, its not a scenic spot but good way to see and interact with the locals. depending on how long you've got you can get another bus from speightstown to bathseba etc. the most important thing to remember is time- this is barbados, the buses are not going to run to an exact time but they are so real- give a try.
