We are taking two 16yr old girls this July with us to Belize.

 

Im nervous about what I hear about the crime and how "unsafe" it is.

 

Is it safe to book an excusion with a private company??

I was thinking of cavetubing dot com, to do ATV and cave tubing??

You will be fine. Went last July with our entire family - daughter, son-in-law, 13 year-old grandson and 2 4 year-old granddaughters. We used an independent company and went to the Zoo. We never felt anything other than safe.

 

We have been several times previously (just the 2 of us) and used independent companies to go cave tubing. We have never had any type of problem. We have also walked outside the gate and around the area without any problem at all.

Anywhere the average cruiser would go is perfectly safe. Belize City itself certainly isn't scenic, but I wouldn't call it "unsafe," especially not during daylight. It's a poor city. Lots of parts are run-down. If you run around flashing valuables you run the risk of theft, but the worst you're likely to see are vendors who are more aggressive than you're comfortable with. You're less likely to even deal with the most aggressive vendors with a big group like cavetubing dot com. Don't worry about it- the girls will have fun!

Two 16 year old girls will love cave tubing. I wouldn't worry at all about private excursions. I think it is perfectly safe to book with a private company. The only thing is if they've had heavy rains for a few days before, they sometimes cancel cave tubing. So you might want to have a back-up plan just in case.

Just got back last night from a cruise on the Legend and we used those guys for a private excursion last week in Belize. They were AWESOME and took amazing care of us.

 

I think you'll have a blast. They are definitely recommended by me.
