Rental Car...driving the island?

There are several places we want to go and we're thinking about renting a car so we can be on our own... Has anyone done this and how's the driving as far as traffic and beaches being marked? Which rental company did you use? Thanks!

still will not keep you from getting lost.

 

I've driven on the island twice, both times on land vacations, and will say that most Barbados drivers are quite courteous and can easily identify rental vehicles.

 

I don't know which company services the port, perhaps most; we used Stoutes and can attest to the quality of their operation.

 

The roads are narrow and congested and most places are not well marked unless you really know what to look for.

 

That being said, I like to rent cars on most islands simply for the independence and I don't mind having to turn around on occasion.

 

If you are a confident and competent driver, and comfortable with right-hand drive, you should have no real problems.
