dongordon Posted March 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2012 I am planning a private excursion in Barbados for my cruise ship group (10-20 people) We all want to go to Crane Beach (takes care of the beach part of the trip). What other 2-3 spots would you recommend for this 5 hour tour? Is there a tour company that anyone would recommend to handle this size group? ming Posted March 28, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 28, 2012 Boy, five hours isn’t very long to see much of anything but Crane. It is 45-60 minutes there and back. And you’ll want some beach time and maybe a lunch there, too? I’d plan 3-1/2 to 4 hours just for this segment. Now, fairly close by (15-20 minutes?) is St. Phillips Church, Sunbury Plantation House, Four Square Rum Factory. You could also (maybe) squeeze in a quick tour of the Concorde at the airport when you return that way. Not top draws, but good, nevertheless. Even though the island is small, five hours isn’t much time to see more than one or two things comfortably, especially with the logistics of moving 20 people in a timely fashion and driving across the island. I’d look closely at tours for your visit, or just see Crane and come back another time and see the rest.
dongordon Posted March 29, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted March 29, 2012 Thank you for your response. First, could you recommend a beach in Barbados as beatiful as Crane closer by? When I went to Barbados 10 years ago, it was the nicest beach I have ever seen with beautiful waves. If not, please tell me more about the Rum Factory and the Plantation. We are in Barbados from 8:00 AM 'til 5:00 PM and must get back to the ship by 4:00 PM. Thanks. Don
aimodels Posted March 29, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2012 All the beaches in Barbados are gorgeous:) There are a ton of nice beaches closer to Bridgetown (within a 20-30 min. drive). Anything along the west side and south side from Payne's to Dover. They won't have the waves that Crane does, but they're still beautiful... And you can swim and snorkel at any one of these, if you want to... Cheers, P:)
