aandp Posted March 30, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 30, 2012 We have just return from a back to back first cruise on Thomson Dream and we thoroughly enjoyed it all from day one,Thomsons have it all very organised from taking your luggage at your departure airport(which you next see outside your cabin door)to your arrival at the ship, we initially booked a couple of excursions because as first timers were a little unsure, but believe us we disembarked at every port after and used local taxis, they are a lot cheaper and very informative of their islands, there really is nothing to worry about, they are friendly and will go and stop where you want for visits/photos, even drop you off and return at a set time without having payment upfront. Whilst in Tortola we were strolling along and an open air bus pulled up and offered an island trip for $10 so we jumped on and had a great time, he then took us to Cane Garden Bay Beach where, with the recommendation of another Cruise Critic member, (sorry don't remember your name) we tried a Painkiller cocktail which we have grown a liking to, but each to their own, there is something or somewhere to do or go for every one. One of the Thomson organised tours we went on was the Rhumba on the Chiva, in Venezuela (because we were informed that not many of the taxi drivers spoke English) which we really enjoyed riding along on a very colourful open air bus and having time on a beach with a bed/unbrella and drinks provided, on the bus on the way back every one was up and dancing/singing and waving to the locals ... GREAT....,maybe the rum has a lot to answer for ...could go on and on but better stop now except to say be prepared for flight delays (Especially flights from Birmingham airport as we did) a little delay going out but a four hour delay on return, we were notified of the delay whilst on the ship and Thomson allowed every one to continue to use the facilities untill the amended pick up time. We were very tired when we eventually boarded the plane home but perked up when we realised Thomson had upgraded us to Premier seats drinks/food etc...what a way to end a fantastic two weeks.. to all those waiting to cruise on the Dream go and enjoy. The 24hour food is brilliant and we adapted to 24 hour day by sleeping and eating when it suited us,we even had chicken curry at 3.30 one morning,I know it sounds strange but when you've been on board for a few days the norm goes overboard
