schooly2 Posted April 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 6, 2012 We are planning a day on Etna, and want to really experience it firsthand, on foot, as close as we can get to the active area. Our kids, 11, 8 and 6, love hiking and are excited to set foot on such an active volcano. Unfortunately, the trekking company, Volcano Discovery, won't reserve a tour for us because there is a chance they won't permit the children under 10 close to the summit. The guides apparently pass judgement upon meeting the children. We'd rather have something arranged ahead of time, rather than gamble on taking the cable car up and being turned away. If you have any suggestions for how to see the most of Etna with children, without the major crowds, we would really appreciate your input.
