Good meeting Point in Marseille near Crown Princess dock? Suggestions?

Meeting friends in Marseille and trying to find a spot to meet. I called Princess and they told me Pier 163........can cars drive out to that pier or do we have to take a taxi to the old port area. It says in other information I found that the dock is about 4 or 5 miles from the main part of the city. I just need a meeting point somewhere. Thanks for any help on this.

It's all a bit of a building site around the cruise terminals at the moment, as the area is being given a major facelift for 2013 when MRS is European City of Culture. Every time I drive into Marseille, the traffic flow seems to have changed, with new contraflows and diversions!

 

I'd suggest you take the cruise shuttle to the Old Port and meet your friends there to spare them a lot of hassle. Somewhere like La Samaritaine or Le Bar de la Marine, two old MRS institutions right on the Old Port, are very nice places to have a drink.
