Dizzneefan Posted April 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 23, 2012 What would you suggest for excursions in Progreso, Mexico? I've looked at the options available through Carnival, and frankly, they don't seem the most exciting. We're booking Xcaret in Cozumel, so we will have a day at the beach, and our party will range from 10 to the mid 70's so not looking for the party scene, but not all day ruin tours either. We prefer tours through the cruise line so as to be sure of return times, etc. but if you have taken tours offered outside of Carnival, I'll be glad to look at those and suggest them to our group. CruisinForABruisin85 Posted April 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2012 We are taking the Chichen-Itzu tour through Carnival. Here is a highly-recommended company that does tours: http://www.autoprogreso.com/Cruise.html
scm1848 Posted April 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2012 Since I had been to Chichinitza in 1983, my husband and I opted for Uxmal last year when we were in Progresso. We used Autoprogresso as well, and were very happy with their services. We just booked and paid upon arrival. Uxmal is almost as large as Chichi, but had many, many less people, a more hilly and scenic setting and a much shorter drive.
Razor_Poke Posted April 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 23, 2012 You can't go wrong with Autoprogresso Dzibilchaltun. A decent tour of some ruins plus some time in a Ceynote. Nice busses too. I wouldn't worry about the time on this particular tour. Check them out and if you like their offerings, go with them and save money.
