At the port there are taxis (mini vans) that charge 15$US per person round trip to either Bayahibe Beach or Dominicus beach. Both are about 25 minutes drive away and a 5 minute drive apart. They are the 2 best beaches in the area. Ask your taxi driver to meet you at a designated time and place and pay him on the return trip.

 

Dominicus beach has one sit down restaurant and a row of gift shacks and is situated between several AI resorts.

 

Bayahibe public beach is next to Dreams La Romana Resort and has gift shacks and a small comedor (local restaurant) where you can get drinks and food - they can provide tables and chairs if needs be. If you walk 5 minutes along the beach into the small fishing village of Bayahibe there are more gift shacks, clean bathroom facilities (in the main bus car park) and several restaurants and bars around the 2 bays which have even cleaner bathroom facilities :) There is also a small supermarket in the village.
