49holding Posted May 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 3, 2005 My husband and son are interested in going to a casino in the greater vancouver area. They are table players, and would like to have a drink or 2 there, what would be the best casino?? they wouldn't have a car, but could take public transportation/ and or taxis. thanks
grouchy Posted May 3, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 3, 2005 There are several around. There is a new one in Richmond-they have a good restaurant and slots. There is one on Broadway-700 block-under the Holiday Inn. Serious Blackjack players go there.

Urban trekker Posted May 4, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2005 The new casino at the plaza of nations the Edgewater does not by choice serve any alcoholic beverages at the present time but that may change in the future - the Riverrock in Richmond is the darling of the bunch - great lounge and food service - also on the way to the airport and accessible by the 98B fast bus from downtown Vancouver Hope this helps - trust that your son is at least 19 as that is the minimum age to be in the casino. CanadianMAG Posted May 12, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 12, 2005 I wouldn't go to the one on Broadway the Holiday Inn.. I'd say RiverRockin Richmond and they probably have a shuttle. There is also the Great Canadian Casino in Coquitlam which is my favorite, you could jump on the skytrain get a tour of the city and get the shuttle from the sky train station to the Casino.. there is also the Casino in New Westminster on the Quay and its located on an OLD river boat that was used on the Mississippi River... CruiseYVR Posted May 29, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 29, 2005 River Rock hands down. Edgewater is small and nothing exciting. Coquitlam is so far for a tourist and New West is very dirty.
Blamar Posted June 15, 2005 #8 Share Posted June 15, 2005 Hi: The RiverRock is the best casino on the lower mainland. I have been there twice and won over $100 each time and I am a low roller. Not to mention I am pretty cheap. You can check it out at http://www.greatcanadiancasinos.com/riverrock/ The new casino at the downtown Plaza of Nations is awful. Not just because I lost there, it just doesn't have a good feel to it. http://www.edgewatercasino.ca/ RiverRock will be better once the hotel portion is finished being construction. CruiseYVR Posted June 15, 2005 #9 Share Posted June 15, 2005 River Rock has the largest poker room in NORTH AMERICA! Great tables, staff and environment. Hands down River Rock is the best casino outside of Las Vegas. The hotel will be very nice and is a great alternative to an airport hotel as it is very close and will offer free transport to YVR.
