MSC or Costa?

Learning the ropes

Recommended Posts

I have revived a thread started by the member Cod in August 2004 and headed "Opera..April2'05".

Please could I suggest that you read the wonderful review posted there by BDintertech concerning their Med experience with MSC. This is someone who has sailed with both the companies you mentioned. I guarantee you a lot of smiles if not outright bursts of laughter!

I think that as the MED season now gets into full swing this review is added importance and it is a huge shame that it is not actually in the CruiseCritic Member Reviews - which is where it belongs.

Good morning to all:

We have sailed both Costa and MSC. To put it it simply we will not sail Costa again, and have already planned our next Transatlantic sailing on the Opera. Remember one is Italian "style" cruising, the other is truly Italian. Costa made constant announcements all day and into the night in FIVE languages. MSC assumes the passengers are adults and makes nearly no announcements during the entire trip. You are expected to ready your daily paper. accents so thick, The food is far superior on MSC, and there is no comparison in both the variety and amount of daily activities one can partake in. (At no cost). While this is our personal impressions, I hope this helps you.

I have sailed on both Costa and MSC, we just came off a 10 day crusie on the MSC Lirica. My DH and I found that MSC was the better of the two. But you need to remember that this is an Italian Cruise line. You will find the food different. ( Wonderful) for us. There were many children on this cruise and they seem to be having a wonderful time. I think you will find MSC a cruise you and your children can have fun on and the entertainment is great for you and your children.

Hope this helps.

Fiorita:)
