cjpgdp Posted May 4, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2005 We will be in Grand Cayman on May 12th (Mariner of the Seas) from 8:00am to 4:00pm. We would like to try snorkeling. We've never snorkeled before and my husband does not swim. Can you snorkel in water of 4-5ft. Can you recommend someone for a beginners snorkeling excursion. We did do the stingray's once before. What else is recommended to do?
quiltsnh Posted May 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2005 We were in GC last week and walked over to Eden Rock ( to the right about 1/2 mile) you can see it from your ship. We had masks/snorkels but rented fins and vests. I don't feel comfortable in the water without a vest because I am not a strong swimmer. The water here goes from 4 ft to 12 ft near shore. It was a great place to snorkel and we saw many many fish. I would think even beginners (and there were plenty there) would do quite well nere there didn't seem to be any current. You have to go down some steps into the water but it is very doable. The dive shop there was very helpful.
